The Pinot Noir master doesn’t hesitate to incorporate small quantities of white grape into his cuvées, all Grand Cru from Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims. As the wine oxidizes and warms, it displays hazelnut and coffee notes in a marvelous dialogue between fruit – orange and tangerine – and mineral glimmers. The palate is powerful and refined, spirited: in the middle, there’s the perception of Pinot Noir almost like a red wine, delicately pampered by the effervescence and refreshed by the flow of a clear, long, and mineral sip. A finale of great balance. A truly great Champagne.
